What are the models of low-voltage switchgear and what are the differences?

Panjin low-voltage switchgear and controlgear, commonly known as low-voltage switchgear cabinets or low-voltage distribution cabinets, refer to complete sets of electrical devices with AC and DC voltages below 1000V. As society progresses, the market demand for low-voltage distribution cabinets continues to expand. So, what are the different models of low-voltage switchgear cabinets? Let's introduce their differences one by one.

1. Introduction to Low-Voltage Switchgear Models 1. GGD Series Switchgear Purpose: Primarily suitable for use in distribution systems with AC 50Hz, rated working voltage of 380V, and rated working current ranging from 1000 to 3150A in substations, power plants, factories, mines, and other power users. It is mainly used for the conversion, distribution, and control of electric energy for power, lighting, and power generation and distribution equipment.

Structural Features of GGD Series Switchgear: The cabinet body of the GGD low-voltage distribution cabinet adopts a universal cabinet form, with a frame assembled locally using 8MF cold-formed steel and featuring 20-modular installation holes, ensuring a high universal coefficient. The heat dissipation issue is fully considered, with different numbers of cooling slot holes on both the upper and lower ends of the cabinet body. When the electrical components inside the cabinet heat up, the heat rises and is discharged through the upper slot holes, while cold air is continuously replenished into the cabinet through the lower slot holes, forming a natural ventilation duct from the bottom up within the sealed cabinet body, achieving the purpose of heat dissipation.

2. Application of GCK series switchgear: It is primarily suitable for use in power distribution and control systems operating at AC 50 (60) Hz, with a rated working voltage up to and including 660V, and a rated current of 4000A or less. It serves as a power distribution, motor control, and lighting distribution device.

Structural Features of GCK Series Switchgear: The entire cabinet adopts an assembled modular structure, with modular holes for installation, universal components, good applicability, and high standardization. The upper part of the cabinet is the busbar compartment, the front part is the electrical compartment, and the rear part is the cable entry and exit compartment. Steel plates or edge plates are used between the compartments for safety.

3. Purpose of GCS series switchgear: It is primarily suitable for use in power generation and supply systems with a three-phase AC frequency of 50Hz, a rated working voltage of 400V (690V), and a rated current of 4000A and below, serving as a power source, distribution center, centralized motor control, and capacitor compensation. It is widely used in power plants, petroleum, chemical, metallurgical, textile, high-rise buildings, and other places. It can also be used in large power plants, petrochemical systems, and other places with high automation levels and requirements for computer interfaces.

Structural Features of GCS Series Switchgear: The various functional compartments of the switchgear are interconnected, and are divided into functional unit compartments, busbar compartments, and cable compartments. The horizontal busbars are arranged in a flat manner at the back of the cabinet to enhance the busbar's resistance to electrodynamic forces, which is a basic measure to ensure high short-circuit strength in the main circuit. The design of the cable compartments facilitates easy access to cables from both the top and bottom. The drawers vary in height, while the width and depth remain unchanged, ensuring good interchangeability between drawers of the same functional unit. The drawer panels feature clear markings for positions such as open, closed, testing, and withdrawn.

4. MNS series switchgear

Purpose: Applicable to distribution systems with a three-phase AC frequency of 50Hz (60Hz), a rated working voltage of up to 1000V, and a rated current of 6300A or less.

Structural characteristics of MNS series switchgear: Modular structure, with internal dimensions, component dimensions, and compartment dimensions of the switchgear designed according to modularization, achieving high universality and standardization; each cabinet body is divided into three compartments: horizontal busbar compartment, drawer compartment, and cable compartment, which are separated from each other, effectively preventing accidents caused by arcing of switching components due to faults or short circuits between busbars and other lines; the structural design can accommodate various incoming and outgoing line schemes such as top-in top-out, top-in bottom-out, bottom-in top-out, and bottom-in bottom-out; the cabinet body can be selected with corresponding protection levels according to the requirements of different working environments.

II. Differences between the above low-voltage switch cabinets: 1. GGD is a fixed cabinet, while GCK, GCS, and MNS are drawer cabinets; 2. The drawer-pushing mechanisms of GCK cabinets differ from those of GCS and MNS cabinets; 3. GCS cabinets can only be operated from one side, while MNS cabinets can be operated from both sides.

III. Advantages and Disadvantages of Various Models of Low-Voltage Switchgear: Withdrawable cabinets are space-saving and easy to maintain, but they have multiple circuits and are expensive to manufacture; whereas fixed cabinets have fewer circuits but occupy more space. If the location provided by the customer is too small to accommodate a fixed cabinet, a withdrawable cabinet should be used instead.

1. GGD: Advantages: simple operation, convenient installation and maintenance.

Disadvantages: Limited circuits, inability to arbitrarily combine units, large footprint, and inability to communicate with computers.

2. Advantages of GCK switchgear compared to GGD fixed cabinet: flexible electrical scheme, series nature, versatility, and arbitrary combination of various scheme units; one cabinet body can accommodate a large number of circuits, saving floor space, high protection level, safety, and convenient maintenance.

Disadvantages: The horizontal busbar is located on the top of the cabinet, and the vertical busbar lacks a flame-retardant plastic functional plate, resulting in poor safety.

3. Advantages of GCS: It boasts high technical performance indicators and can compete with existing imported products. The new low-voltage withdrawable switchgear, designed based on the principles of safety, economy, and rationality, also features high breaking and making capacities, good dynamic and thermal stability, flexible electrical schemes, convenient combination, series practicality, and high protection levels.

Disadvantages: Due to the influence of the electrical performance and process quality of the edge connectors, its performance and safety are inferior to MNS; its electrical indicators are slightly worse than MNS.

4. Advantages of MNS: Compact design, standard modular design, high technical performance, and space-saving.

Disadvantages: Original brand cabinets are expensive, and the quality of domestically produced cabinet models may be compromised.
